Don’t lose heart.
The cares and difficulties of life come into each of our lives. These difficulties can make us discouraged and even tempt us to give up. The Psalmist understood this when he said, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord.”
You might feel like there is no way out of your situation. Maybe the issues you face keep you up at night. You’re exhausted but your heart keeps racing. In the scripture you see God telling individuals to be strong and courageous and those words today are there for you. In Hebrews, we are told we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. It’s like those of old are cheering you on and encouraging you to be strong and courageous and to trust God.
It’s your turn. You have the stories of those who went before. You have the testimonies of those around you and most of all you have the promise from God that he will never leave or forsake you. The Psalmist would say to you, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.”
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
14 Wait[a] on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:13-14
