“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
Have you ever started something and as time goes by the excitement wears off? Starting something is easy, but finishing can be difficult. We invest our time, money and resources to fuel our shiny new quest but as time passes, our motivation also begins to fade. Reality hits and difficulties start to set in, and we begin to question if it was ever meant to be, and before long we give up. How many dreams and ideas have been shelved because it got hard?
The Lord is not the same. You may have quit, but God is not that way. In Philippians 1:6 we read that what God starts in you He is going to complete it.
It doesn’t matter how you feel, how strong your faith or commitment is, He has promised to finish, and he will. How can you be sure of that? You see, Jesus had the opportunity to quit. Just before the crucifixion, Jesus was in the garden and He cried out, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Jesus knew what was coming: the death, the betrayal, separation, taking on our sins. All that was weighing heavily upon him but it was also in that moment he made a decision not to give up on you and I. The scripture says that he endured the cross for the joy that was before him. You are that joy!
Are you ready to give up? Be encouraged, He won’t give up on you for you. You are the treasure for which he died and rose again. Put your confidence in him; he’s going to work it out, He won’t give up!
