God is Light

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” 1 John 1:1-4

I am thankful that God is light.

I am thankful that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. I have seen the intent and motivations of my heart they have not always been pure and right. I am thankful the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from all sin.

The Light of the world reveals the motivation of your heart, but it does not reveal to condemn, but that we may come out of darkness to be made right. Jesus is the Light, and in Him is no darkness. We read that the gospels are good news, and indeed it is. It is good news because there is such a messy inner world in us, and he desires to tend and plant and make something beautiful; He makes right what is wrong, straightens crooked paths, heels broken places, and restores weary souls.

We may know and see what is right, but we are only partially where we should be. But we will. If we confess our sins, admit that which is not right, and if we come into the Light, he is faithful and will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He did not come to condemn but to make straight our crooked places.

Prayer: I pray, Lord, help me walk in the Light and that I can love even as you have loved. It is you who declares us righteous; help me to walk in righteousness.
