Are you looking to the interest of others? Even nature teaches us these principles. There is a rich, good life if we understand and practice this. A good life is not found by only looking out for number one and doing just what makes us happy, and nature teaches this.
In my yard, I have daylilies growing. Each spring, they show off beautiful flowers. An interesting fact about daylilies is if left to themselves, they will never flourish as much as they should. Daylilies need to be divided for optimum growth every few years.
We flourish when we also look to the interests of others. When we live selfish lives, we miss out on life. When we give our own time and energy away to others, it’s where we begin to flourish.
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4
