Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Psalm 34:8
Have you put your trust in the Lord?
Trust the Lord’s, unfailing love. He will never leave nor forsake you. It’s a call to trust even in the difficulties of life.
Scrolling through Instagram is not where we find the definition of a blessed life. A whole life is not coming up with catchy insta-worthy phrases, travel, wealth, or having a platform. Jesus defines the blessed and happy as:
- The poor in spirit
- Those who mourn
- The meek
- Those who hunger and thirst for that which is right and just
- The Merciful
- The pure in heart
- The peacemakers
- Those who are persecuted for righteousness sake
That is different from how we have defined success and what the books or those we look up to have been saying.
We drink from an empty well. We read all the positive, feel-good quotes, and they only fanned the flame of discontent in our souls.
You think, “If I could just do this or that, then I’ll be in the perfect place.”
Maybe you enjoy where you are and the money you make, but there is always something that keeps you from perfect peace.
You think, “if I could overcome that problem or get away from that person who slighted me, then I could genuinely feel peace.”
One more day and one more self-help book, and the nagging empty feeling remain.
Jesus says, “come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden.”
You don’t have to fix your life or figure it out.
You are weary and worn out. The shame and guilt you feel – stop trying to fill yourself with empty pleasure.
We have spent enough time drinking from empty wells.
You can come to Jesus just as you are. You recognize you are poor in spirit. Jesus says to you, “yours is the kingdom of heaven.”
Open your heart to Jesus. He came to give you life… abundant life.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11: 28-30
