In a world that lacks compassion, our calling is to be something different – the light of the world.
Just exactly how do we shine like lights in this world? For some reason, we think we have to do big things to fulfill God’s calling, but that is not the case. Being a light happens day by day as you relate to others, go to school, work, or even at play.
In the book of Ephesians, Paul sheds light on practical ways we shine as lights. He writes that we should “do all things without complaining and disputing.” Being light has everything to do with our conduct and attitude. Is our life characterized as someone who is always complaining and arguing? If so, we need to put off those attitudes and put on a new way of living our life.
When someone crosses you the wrong way, how do you respond? Are we kind to others, tenderhearted, forgiving? These are all attributes of a Christain life, and it’s how we shine to the world around us.
As Christians, we are new creations. God has for us and those works are waiting for us to walk in. It’s how we respond and conduct ourselves to others. Today, know that you have a mission, and it starts with how you live out your life before others.
