The Elements (Part 2)

Surfing and windsurfing in really rough conditions can be tiring and sometimes frightful. When fear sets in so do exhaustion, and that’s when mistakes happen. This doesn’t only happen while surfing but also in daily life. When difficult times come our way we think we are going to sink. It’s in those times Lord shows up and He surprises us by what He does in us and through us.

The disciples were rowing and being tossed by the waves while struggling against the wind when Jesus showed up walking on the water. The disciples were afraid when they saw him but Jesus said, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Then Peter had an idea and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to You on the water.” Jesus extended the invitation and said, “Come.”

You may be in the middle of difficult conditions and looking for answers. Maybe you have some ideas and you’ve been praying and thinking about wanting to give them a try. Those things are the “what” in your life. What is the what before you? It could be Jesus has extended that invitation to you and is saying, “Come.” Will you step out of that boat?

Peter did step out and was walking on the water. He was doing it!

As time went on Peter began to look at the wind and waves and he became afraid and began to sink. Don’t we do the same? Maybe you are afraid and feeling like you are going to sink. This is what doubt can do. We doubt and forget the Lord is with us and able to help us. Do you find yourself in that place?

Jesus stretched out His hand and caught Peter. Even when we fail and doubt Jesus is right there with us. You may feel you are going to sink but Jesus will never let you.

They got back into the boat and the wind ceased. Jesus has power over the wind and the waves and can calm the seas in your life. He Loves you and is calling you to step out on that water. He wants to do amazing things in your life. Trust Him because you never know what amazing things He has for you.
